I have a theory that as children, all the clothing we got was bright and colorful and patterned. Especially for clothing aimed at girls in the early-to-mid 2000s, a lot of it had sequins and glitter and unique layering. When you become a teen and start needing that kind of underwear, you’re still a child. You apply what you know you like on your regular clothes to the ones that aren’t meant to show. I think there’s also a general discomfort with the changes your body is going through and sometimes, if you can’t bring yourself to love your body itself, you can circumvent that by at the very least loving what you put on it. Patterns and weird styles and wild colors. Padding and sequins and lace. It was teen culture and trying to leverage what was popular with what helped strengthen our own self confidence and self image. Yeah, it can seem kinda sus looking back on it but, for the most part, who you were dressing for was probably yourself
Bro I wore tight ass sports bras with no padding for years and I’m pretty sure my breasts weren’t able to grow properly because of how basically wrapped they were OR IM JUST FLAT CHESTED
I think it's because we were conditioned by society and tv shows that teenagers are just banging left and right, so maybe you subconsciously wanted to be prepared just in case?? But also teenagers do a lot of stupid shit so tf do I know
We did adult things to feel more grown up then we were. We projected our perceived adulthood through trying to do more adult things, try more adult clothes, even use adult language. How many of us cussed as kids at school, to only grow up to cuss less? And often how we presented our self perceived adulthood was usually how our social status was perceived. Hotter the clothes, the cooler the person.
But short answer. You did it for yourself, to make yourself feel better in your own skin.
I did the same. For me it was about wanting to feel grown. I wanted to prove myself that I was mature, and for some reason, wearing more "adult" bras helped me with that and with my confidence
I wasn’t allowed to wear bras like that. All my under garments had to be white or beige and my mom had to see me in them to ensure I didn’t look good in them. She was diagnosed with NPD.
As teens you follow Trent’s and want to fit in and chick, but as you grow unless is for a special occasion like be comfortable does things are the devil
It was for you. You were going through alot of changes and probably insecure. If you wore something nice and sexy then you felt sexy. Feeling sexy has always given me a boost of confidence. I bet wearing them your head was a little higher and your shoulder a little more squared. Now you know yourself a little more so your confidence dosent come from what you wear
My guess is that we were wearing them to make ourselves feel pretty bc of all the changes our body was going through, but our understanding of "pretty" was what we assumed boys would like, don't you just love the internalized male gaze hahaha :"D
This girl probably forgot, that so whore those so she felt pretty. Same with make-up. You will find some girls out there whose faces have so much makeup that there heads physically start looking bigger. But at least they think it made them prettier.

In my case growing up meant every single bra I've ever owned worsened my chronic pain so i basically ditched them all together
